The present study aimed to investigate and identify the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the performance of organizational knowledge management systems. This study employed a systematic review with an applied approach and was designed following the PRISMA guidelines. Data were collected through a systematic search of reputable scientific databases (ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, Google Scholar) in both Persian and English. Studies examining the role of AI in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of knowledge management systems were selected and, after screening titles, abstracts, and full texts, were qualitatively assessed by two independent researchers using CASP and JBI tools. Extracted data included the type of AI technology, application domain, and key outcomes, and were analyzed qualitatively using MAXQDA software. All stages of selection, data extraction, and analysis were conducted in duplicate, with disagreements resolved through discussion or consultation with a third reviewer to ensure the validity and reproducibility of the results. The findings revealed that AI plays multifaceted and effective roles in enhancing knowledge management systems. At the organizational level, four key themes were identified: (1) enhancement of knowledge creation and acquisition processes, (2) optimization of knowledge storage and organization, (3) facilitation and personalization of knowledge sharing, and (4) improvement of knowledge utilization effectiveness. The results indicate that AI, by smartening knowledge processes, not only improves decision-making and information organization at the organizational level but also enables better data management, personalized learning, and intelligent recommendations at the individual level. Consequently, AI simultaneously strengthens both organizational and individual capabilities.
